Every property we build – whether it’s big or small, traditional or contemporary – is developed with both passion and commitment, ensuring you end up with a home that truly tells your story.
Our number one objective is to ensure our clients enjoy a hassle-free experience when planning, designing, and constructing their new home. Great communication is at the heart of our approach; it’s something that’s very much appreciated by those who choose to partner with us, because with so much to consider, and so many rules and regulations to follow, the self-build process can appear to be very daunting indeed without a dedicated team in your corner.
Benjamin Allen’s design, detailing and build quality is recognised as a benchmark for excellence.
We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, and we can advise on all those important finishing touches for your project, including kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, fireplace designs, chimney stacks, roof coverings, timber flooring, ironmongery, and external finishes.
We work proactively with all stakeholders – including our clients, designers, contractors, and employees – to prevent hazards and exposure to danger on all our sites. We take HSE guidelines very seriously and we recognise our statutory responsibility to comply with all relevant legislation and the duties and obligations resulting from them.
Copies of all our health and safety documentation and relevant insurance documents are available upon request.
Allen & Michele entered the self-build market 40 years ago when they imported their first timber frame kit home from Sweden. This project was a self-build in the truest sense of the word and was a big achievement for a couple in their early twenties!
They went on to start a family before Allen’s thirst for building took over and he became a building contractor for a leading timber frame company.
Their passion for self-build never faltered, and since their first successful self build, they have gone on to build many beautiful homes.
Alongside their own builds, they and their son Ben decided to establish Benjamin Allen Construction. Their dream was to create a company that would be able to offer the highest quality service possible service to self-builders, guiding them from the initial design and planning through to a full turnkey build.
Eventually, two further sons who came from construction backgrounds joined Benjamin Allen, and several other members of our extended family have entered the fold.
When they are not working, Michele and Allen love the outdoor life and often spend their weekends sailing.
Ben is a qualified carpenter. He started his carpentry career in 2005 as a frame erector at a national timber frame supplier. After 7 years, Ben and his co-director Allen made the decision to open Benjamin Allen as a bespoke home builder for self-build clients specialising in timber frames.
As the company grew, the duo decided to diversify to offer all forms of construction, and Ben stepped in to lead the timber frame erection wing of the company.
Ben still to this day leads the timber frame and first fix carpentry element of our business, working hand on to ensure all projects are finished to the highest standard.
Ben has a passion for the outdoors and taking his Rhodesian Ridgeback on walks around the South Downs.
Born to a family in construction, Ross first pursued his passion at university, where he obtained a degree in Civil Engineering. From here, he went on to start his career at a large commercial construction company; he trained as a quantity surveyor and worked on a range of projects, including those taking place in hospitals and schools.
Ross joined Benjamin Allen construction in 2014 to oversee the financial and procurement element of the company. As all our construction projects are bespoke, one of Ross’s main roles is ensuring clients have exactly what they want.
Ross is an avid traveller and enjoys exploring new places and cultures.
